Understanding KINTO’s Rates and Fees

Updated August 27, 2024

KINTO prides itself on transparency, no hidden costs, and no membership fees. So, how much does it cost to rent a KINTO car?

Background Check

Our application process begins with a non-refundable one-time background check, a small investment of $35. This check is designed to ensure the safety and security of our community.  This process is straightforward and quick, allowing you to start using our service in no time.

Rates

Depending on where you rent from, you have a couple of options. If you rent from specific locations in the Dallas area, we offer custom reservation pricing, allowing you to rent for as little as 4 hours and up to 28 days. For all other areas in California and Texas that we service, we offer weekly rates. Click here for more pricing information.

Using Toll Roads

A toll road is a highway, or section of highway, where the user pays a fee for its upkeep and maintenance as they drive. Often, toll roads tend to be the faster and less congested routes. If someone driving a KINTO car uses the road without paying the toll, the local highways authority will fine KINTO.

What will be your responsibility when driving on toll roads in a KINTO car?

For our California drivers, we’re in the process of equipping our cars with toll tags or transponders. If the vehicle you rent doesn’t have one, you’ll need to pay the toll authority directly after using the toll. If you don’t pay immediately, we will receive a notice and pay it on your behalf. However, we’ll add the amount to your invoice and a $30 processing fee. Any penalties associated with the toll will also be your responsibility.

For our Texas drivers, we equip our Texas vehicles with NTTA toll tags, making your toll payment process seamless. You do not need to add the vehicle plate to your NTTA account, but we ask that you do not add the car to your NTTA account as it impacts other drivers. If you deactivate or remove our toll tag, we will charge you a $50 fee. We will add all the toll fees that occurred during your reservation to your invoice as we receive them, ensuring you have a clear record of your expenses.

If you are planning on parking at the Love field airport, DFW airport, or event venues you will need pull a parking ticket and pay for the parking, a toll tag cannot be used.

Uber Customers

For customers who rent our cars to drive for Uber services, please know that Uber does not reimburse KINTO directly for your toll charges. If you request reimbursement on qualifying tolls during a trip or delivery from Uber, you must coordinate with Uber according to their policies and procedures.

Traffic and Parking Citations

If you get a traffic ticket while using a KINTO vehicle, paying it as soon as possible is essential. We will cover the amount due and the processing fee once we receive the citation. Your credit or debit card on file will be charged for the citation once we complete our processing.  However, please note that the notification process to KINTO is done by mail, and our team handles it manually. We kindly ask for your patience; any violations, tolls, or charges that transpired during your rental may be charged to your card on file up to 365 days after returning the car. Rest assured, we’re here to assist you throughout this process.

Fees

If you drive safely and lawfully, abide by the Terms of Service, complete the return process on the app, and return the car clean, with a full gas tank, and on time, you should not be charged any additional fees.

We will charge you the rate for the vehicle you select at the time of reservation, plus taxes. Rest assured, vehicle insurance1, vehicle maintenance2, and 24/7 roadside assistance3 are all included in your rate, providing you with peace of mind during your rental.

As a carsharing service, the cars must be ready for the next customer. To deliver the best possible member experience, we assess fees for poor community behavior, such as late and dirty returns and low fuel (less than a full tank). Please review our Terms of Service so you are aware of all potential fees.

If you are in an accident while driving a KINTO rental car or damage has occurred, we recommend reviewing the What to Do if You’re in an Accident blog post to understand the damage fee. This post provides detailed instructions on how to handle the situation, including reporting the incident to us.

If you have any questions, please email us at info@kinto-us.com or text us at (629) 20-KINTO.
