Everything You Need to Know About KINTO Carsharing

Updated August 27, 2024

Nowadays, many look for career options and ways to earn extra money that will work flexibly with their lifestyle. How great is it to work when you want to meet exciting people and explore new areas around town? Many individuals who work in the gig industry drive for rideshare providers and various delivery services. But sometimes, this type of work can burden your car with extra wear and tear and miles, or your vehicle does not meet the rideshare requirements. You don’t have a car now, and you need to earn to buy one.

What is KINTO?

KINTO stands out as a carsharing company operating in California and Texas. We offer weekly car rentals in both states and if you’re in Dallas, Texas, we also provide hourly and daily options. What sets us apart is our user-friendly KINTO app, which handles everything from the application process to car pick-up and start. No more waiting in lines or worrying about keys. You can use our cars for Uber, approved delivery services, or personal use.

Please visit our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for more details.

Why is KINTO the ideal carsharing solution?

  • KINTO does NOT require a membership, contract, deposit, or credit check.
  • You will not need additional rideshare insurance if you are driving with Uber. All KINTO cars are registered with Uber and have our fleet insurance information. Insurance coverage is included in our rates. We provide liability insurance, which covers damages up to $30,000 in bodily injury per person, $60,000 bodily injury each accident, and $25,000 property damage each accident in the event of an at-fault accident. This insurance does not cover the cost of your own medical expenses in the event of an accident – to ensure you are covered in the event of this situation, please consult your personal medical policy and/or personal auto insurance policy.
  • The application process is easy, and our app walks you through the required steps. You must pay a one-time $35 background check fee.
  • If everything goes smoothly, the application will be approved in 3-5 business days.
  • There are 1,400 miles allowed per week plus $0.25 for each additional mile. For electric vehicles, there is a limit of 1,750 miles plus $0.25 for each additional mile.

KINTO Application Overview

  • Download the KINTO app and complete the application process.
  • Enter your information, including your email address, home address, and phone number.
  • You will need a debit or credit card issued in your name to rent a vehicle.
  • Scan your driver’s license and submit a selfie image of you holding your driver’s license.
  • Pay the one-time $35 application fee and authorize your background check.
  • Please check your email. We will email you if your application is pending and inform you when it is approved. Once approved, you can make your first reservation.

Reservation Pickup

  • You will receive a confirmation email 24 hours before your reservation begins, letting you know your rental vehicle details. Check the article for your location in Texas and California to familiarize yourself with the pickup location and where your vehicle will be parked.
  • Pick up the vehicle at your designated reservation start time. Make sure your phone is fully charged, as it is your key. Open the KINTO app and start your reservation. The app will create a digital key with your phone so that no physical keys will be issued.
  • Complete the pickup process, which includes checking the car for previous damage, dirtiness outside and inside, and interior odors.
  • Confirm the fuel tank is full (150 mile range for EV). If you find any issues, text our customer support team immediately.
  • If you are driving with Uber for rideshare, connect the KINTO and Uber accounts, and you will not need to upload the vehicle registration or insurance information. Please do not manually attempt to upload the document, as it will delay your ability to drive with Uber, and we will need to intervene to solve the issue manually.

Extend your Reservation
If you love your reservation and you realize you want the car for an additional week, please extend the reservation through the KINTO app within the first 48 hours of your reservation. We cannot guarantee that the vehicle will be available any time after that. If you rent the car for a week, you can only extend it for another week; you cannot extend it for a couple of hours or days. If you are renting the vehicle in our CUSTOM reservation type, which is hourly, daily and weekly rentals and you attempt to extend for a couple of hours or days you will be charged for the time extended. See Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy for more details.

Returning your Rental

  • Return the vehicle to your pickup location on time with a full fuel tank and park it in the assigned KINTO area.
  • Complete the return process on the KINTO app, including confirming that the fuel tank is full (150-mile range for EVs), the car is clean, and the windows and vehicle are secure.
  • The app will walk you through taking photos of the odometer and the car’s exterior.
